Fire destroys Pastor Ken McMillen’s home

Pastor Ken McMillen has been pastoring Wall Lake Baptist Church for 11 years.

Ken and his wife, Denise, lost their home in a fire this afternoon, Saturday, January 17, 2009. The upstairs was totally destroyed and the downstairs was ruined by water and smoke damage. Everyone is safe and none were injured. Praise our Great God!

They lost all of their clothes and everything else, such as furniture, toys, etc. for their entire family. They still have daughters at home who are 22, 13, and 6 years old and sons 18, 16, 14, 9, 8, 4 and 2 years of age.

One of life's greatest joys has to be being a Grandpa. My almost 4-year-old grandson visits Grammy and I for a day or more every six weeks or so. As best I can I shove all other priorities aside so I can just enjoy he and his sister. It doesn't take big stuff to make big memories. In fact, I am struck at how significant the little and the simple things are that leave behind lasting and smile-producing memories.
