Lord help me finish well. Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version

II Chronicles 1:9-10 Now, Lord God, let your promise to my father David be confirmed, for you have made me king over a people who are as numerous as the dust of the earth. Give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may lead this people, for who is able to govern this great people of yours?
King Solomon started out good and was following the Lord and asked God for wisdom to govern the Israelites instead of asking for wealth for himself. But King Solomon did finish his life fully devoted to the Lord. I pray that I may finish this earthly life well in God’s sight.

Hey Wise Guy Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version

Knowledge is useful, but what we know must be tempered by love because of Who we know and that He knows us. 1 Cor. 8:1-3 "... Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up. 2 The man who thinks he knows something does not yet know as he ought to know. 3 But the man who loves God is known by God."

Selfish Believers Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version

‎1 Cor. 6:6-7 "But instead, one brother goes to law against another—and this in front of unbelievers! 7 The very fact that you have lawsuits among you means you have been completely defeated already. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be cheated?"
When selfness of any kind is displayed amongst believers the unbelieving world mocks Christ. Love for one another tells the world we follow Christ.

Instruction to young men. Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version

Solomon says to young men “Follow the ways of your heart and whatever your eyes see, but know that for all these things God will bring you to judgment.” David said “When I said, "My foot is slipping," your love, O LORD, supported me.” Peter says “Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” Young men are given instruction to “be submissive to those who are older” and “Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.” Youth has opportunity and the advantage of vigor, but falling prey to Satan’s temptations can be avoided by being humble.
1 Peter 5:5-9 5 Young men, in the same way be submissive to those who are older. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble." 6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. 7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. 8 Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 9 Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings.
Ecclesiastes 11:9-10 Be happy, young man, while you are young, and let your heart give you joy in the days of your youth. Follow the ways of your heart and whatever your eyes see, but know that for all these things God will bring you to judgment. 10 So then, banish anxiety from your heart and cast off the troubles of your body, for youth and vigor are meaningless.
Psalms 94:18-19 When I said, "My foot is slipping," your love, O LORD, supported me. 19 When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul. (NIV)

What is eternity divided by your lifetime? Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version

II Corinthians 4:18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
Earthly possessions are nice but temporary so we fix our eyes on the Lord and the work He has for us to do.

Reason for Hope. Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version

Christ is worthy of our trust even in times of trouble, so “in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord”. Christ suffered for doing God’s good will, “For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God.” with the end result being, we were brought close to God, we should be willing to share our faith so others may also place their hope in Christ.
1 Peter 3:13-18 Who is going to harm you if you are eager to do good? 14 But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. "Do not fear what they fear; do not be frightened." 15 But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, 16 keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander. 17 It is better, if it is God's will, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil. 18 For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit, (NIV)

Give thanks to the LORD. Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version

1 Chronicles 16:7-11 That day David first committed to Asaph and his associates this psalm of thanks to the LORD: 8 Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done. 9 Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts. 10 Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice. 11 Look to the LORD and his strength; seek his face always.
What wonderful words of praise!

You are a chosen people. Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version

“Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God;” “you were like sheep going astray, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.” “Dear friends, I urge you, as aliens and strangers in the world, to abstain from sinful desires, which war against your soul.”
1 Peter 2:9-11,25 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 10 Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. 11 Dear friends, I urge you, as aliens and strangers in the world, to abstain from sinful desires, which war against your soul. 25 For you were like sheep going astray, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls. II Corinthians 2:4 For I wrote you out of great distress and anguish of heart and with many tears, not to grieve you but to let you know the depth of my love for you.

Faith has a goal. Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version

Placing our faith in Christ has a goal “the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.” Our faith and hope are not miss placed, because it comes from believing in God whose Word is eternal, living and enduring.
1 Peter 1:8-9,13, 18-19, 21,23 Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, 9 for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls. 13 Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed. 18 For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. 21 Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified him, and so your faith and hope are in God. 23 For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God. (NIV)
